The Right Viscosity for Cold Weather

The cold weather can take a real toll on your vehicle. Many people are aware that the cold weather can cause the vehicle's battery to run down. Many also know to check the antifreeze before the cold weather sets in. You want to have the oil with the right viscosity for cold weather as well.

When reading the numbers on an oil bottle, the first number is the viscosity in cold weather. The lower the number, the better the oil will flow in cold weather. Oils with a OW or 5W as the first number will have the best flow in the cold weather. The oil will be available throughout the engine faster than a 10W motor oil.

If you live in Saint Cloud and have questions about what is the best oil for your particular vehicle, contact the service department at Tenvoorde Ford Inc. They can answer questions and perform needed service on your vehicle.
